⏵ character information
name: Lester "Apollo" Papadopoulos
canon: Percy Jackson Universe
age: 4,612 (in a body that is physically 17 - UPDATE: As of July 2025, the mortal body is 18)
canon point: Near the end of The Tower of Nero, after taking Nero down but before he reaches Python's lair.
history: Wiki link!
abilities:
  • Marksmanship - Apollo is the god of archery. Even stripped of his divinity, his marksmanship skills are near perfect. His preferred weapon is the bow and arrow, but he's skilled with anything that involves precise pointing and shooting.
  • Music - Apollo taught himself to play every instrument, and is a fantastic performer and singer.
  • Millennia of Knowledge - This is a bit spotty, as a mortal brain simply isn't designed to hold 4,000+ years of memories, but many random bits and pieces of knowledge did carry over.
  • Medicine - Among the spotty pieces of knowledge Apollo retained is first aid! More complex medicine... pretty hit or miss.
  • Random bursts of Godly Power - Occasionally, during times of stress (or when I, the player, want to be dramatic) Apollo is able to call upon his godly power as a Deus ex Machina. Or perhaps a Deus ex Corpus. Being a Greek God, particularly one with such a large domain, it's hard to narrow down what kinds of miracles would be possible during these short bursts. I've got no plans to use this to break the game, and will prioritize Fun and Drama if I ever choose to use this. If need be though i'm cool hashing out specific limits for it together.

personality:

Apollo's godly domains span a wide breadth of things: The sun, archery, music, poetry, knowledge... ultimately, Apollo is a god of Civilization, and the wonderful things to celebrate about it. This is reflected strongly in his personality: He loves people. He loves society. He wants to see everyone around him be the best version of themselves they can be.

Of course, for thousands of years, his pro-humanity mindset has been at odds with the attitude of the other Olympians. He spent almost five millennia layering mask upon mask to live up to the expectations of his family (read: Zeus). There is an understanding among the gods that they are to be distant and detached from the mortals, and Apollo spent millennia trying to maintain that same detachment. He often acted airheaded, arrogant and self-centered, and as he became more and more detached from humanity, that arrogance became more and more ingrained.

However, as of recent events (spending six months as a mortal on a deadly quest) Apollo's had those masks violently torn away, leaving him exposed and vulnerable for the first time in millennia. He's reconnected with his ancient love of humanity, and has resolved to reach out and help them more directly, Zeus' decrees be damned. Apollo helps where he can, and when he can't, he aims to inspire the people around him the way he inspires works of art.

Apollo feels all of his emotions intensely. When he loves, he loves with all of his heart; When he's sad, the misery is agonizing. He is unapologetically dramatic and often expresses what he's feeling through song and poetry. Being trapped in the body of a teenager is exacerbating those intense emotions.

Something that's been particularly distressing for him is how distant many of his own memories feel. All but his most recent memories as a god feel like they happened to someone else, or happened in a movie he saw. He consciously knows the memories are his, but feels disconnected from them.
